Espio is the only newcomer to the cast, apart from Heavy & Bomb.
While later incarnations of Espio show him to be a ninja with invisibility powers, Chaotix has none of that.
However, that doesn't mean he isn't cool as all hell in this game.

It is implied that Espio shares the same belief about the island as Knuckles, and is very interested in the Echidna Tribe.
He heads to the island to investigate it's relationship with Angel Island.

Surface Cling

Espio can stick to surfaces such as walls and ceilings and run on them as if he was on the regular ground.
However, this may not be too useful if your partner is constantly flinging you back downwards.

• In the Japanese manual, Espio's hobbies are listed as "Combat training", "Intelligence", and "Gathering". He also likes camping.
  The manual also claims he is a private detective, which would go on to be his team's job in future games.
  The manual also says that he is envious of Knuckles.


• Classic Espio was the only character besides Knuckles and Mighty
  to be featured in another game after Chaotix.


• Classic Espio was featured in 2022 anniversary art,
  marking the first time any Classic Chaotix character was seen in the past 20 years.


• Espio's color changing abilities were eventually deprecated in favor of invisibility.
